Matt Lindsey

Matt Lindsey has been working in the music publishing industry for over thirty years! Originally from Statesville, North Carolina, Lindsey moved to Nashville in 1980. In 1983. he began working as a song plugger for Mel Tillis Enterprises, eventually becoming general manager. He moved to Morgan Music Group in 1989 as a song plugger and later managed the publishing company. In 1992, Lindsey was hired by Forerunner Music Group as a song plugger in addition to producing all of the company’s demos. He eventually became VP of the publishing company in 1995, where he worked with producers Allen Reynolds and Jim Rooney. It was during this tenure he signed hit writers such as Tony Arata (“The Dance”), Shawn Camp (“How Long Gone”) and bluegrass great Tim O’Brien. In 2000, he formed Matt Lindsey Music LLC, which he continues to run today. More recently he has worked at Big Yellow Dog Music as VP and A&R where he also oversaw international music collaborations.

As a song plugger, he has pitched songs recorded by Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks, Bonnie Raitt, Brooks and Dunn, George Jones, Rod Stewart, Randy Travis, George Strait, Alison Krauss, Reba McEntire, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Alabama and many, many more!

As a producer, Lindsey has always been involved in producing the song demos for the publishing companies he’s worked for. Most recently, he co-produced an album on Tony Arata, “Way Back When”, with Mark Miller (current producer for Garth Brooks) featuring guest performers Garth Brooks, Patty Loveless and Lee Roy Parnell. He also co-produced with Tony Arata “Such Is Life” featuring hits Tony wrote for Garth Brooks, Patty Loveless and Emmylou Harris.
